Sven became Pastor for Ipswich  and Bury St Edmunds, in 1986 after ministering in Portsmouth. Frequently, I remember Sabbaths where I counted more than 50 people in attendance. We had an excellent children’s Sabbath School and lots of activities seemed to be going on with the them. The frequent Sabbath ‘pot-lucks’ kept the friendly family spirit. Street witnessing with Sven’s accordion was enjoyed and well supported by everyone.  Four times we blitzed the city with invitations to attend Daniel Seminars. All the members came along and helped out. The result led to some 19 people being baptised. Thanks be to God.

After just over six years as Pastor at Bury St Edmunds I was moved to Bristol in September 1992.

Bury St. Edmunds was one half of our first district as a Pastoral couple.  I feel like the Bury St. Edmunds church really took care of us in our starting phase in the ministry and for that we will be for ever grateful.

We are now living in Norway. We have 3 children: Miriam (7), Mattias (5), and Miranda (4). Gryne is pastor at a café church in Oslo for half the time, and with her other half works for the Norwegian Youth Department with special responsibility for family and children’s ministries. Victor is now the Youth and Family Ministries Director with responsibility also for pathfinders, children’s Sabbath school, and student work.

Bernie is now head of Family Ministries, Children’s Ministries along with his wife, Karen in the South England Conference.

Ipswich & Bury St Edmunds were David’s final posting.  He has now retired and is enjoying spending time with his family.

David has left the ministry and is currently living in Lowestoft.

Jonathan Gallagher is the United Nations liaison director for the General Conference.
