The Lost Coin

Suppose a woman has ten silver coins, but loses one.  She will light a lamp, sweep the house and look carefully for the coin until she finds it.  And when she finds it, she will call her friends and neighbours and say, ‘Be happy with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’  In the same way there is joy in the presence of the angels of God when one sinner changes his heart and life.

Luke 15:8-10

What can we learn from this passage?

Jesus wants us to know that each one of us is precious, and that He wants to keep us close.  If we stray and get encouraged to do bad things, Jesus is upset and tries as hard as He can to find us and bring us back to Him.  Once back in the family of God, Jesus will rejoice, just as we do when we have found something we thought was lost forever.

You can help your friends by letting them know that Jesus loves them, and doesn’t want to lose them.  So if you look out for each other - encouraging only good activities, that way we can all rejoice together.
