BUC Mission Project
Kajiado Girls' Rehabilitation School, Rift Valley Province, Kenya.
On the 28th of June two members of our church, Jason and Lorna, flew out to Kenya for
three weeks with a team headed by Des Boldeau, and funded by ADRA.
Their mission?
♥ To build a classroom extension on a school that provides primary, secondary,
tertiary and vocational education for girls who are orphans, rescued from early marriages and others escaping from female genital mutilation.
♥ The team are also planning a community health project that they will be taking to schools to heighten both health and educational issues.
♥ Finally, they will work with the Personal Ministries Department in the Central Kenya Conference in public evangelism projects.
Both Jason and Lorna were very excited when they were accepted to become a part of a team that
will bring hope into the lives of the children in the Kajiado school.
Work is still being done to make lives better so please keep the teams in your prayers. You may not be able to go into the mission field, but your prayers can!

Jason went along to help out with the building work, lifting the heavy lintels and
resizing the holes for the windows. Chiseling away at the frames, Jason managed
to get a sizeable piece of mortar in his eye and needed a visit to the local hospital
-
Once the plastering had been completed and all the rubble removed, Jason and a
Kenyan builder, organised a football game. During the game, Jason performed a tackle
sliding across the ground taking off most of his skin -

Lorna was given donations of toiletries to take with her -
After a bout of sickness and missing some of the classes, Lorna enjoyed her teaching role, showing the class HIV awareness, oral and personal hygiene. She used flip charts and colour posters which she covered the bare walls with. “We had an interactive personal hygiene lesson, with loads of hugs and shaking hands to show how easily germs are spread and the importance of hand washing etc. I had a hygiene routine worksheet that we worked through, and the children enjoyed” Lorna said.
